Advantages and disadvantages
Advantages:
- Insensitivity to sunlight reflection.
- Responds to a wider range of fires than UV and UV/IR detectors.
- Insensitivity to artificial lights, such as fluorescent lamps, halogen lamps, etc. Separation, analysis of the wavelength of flame radiation to reduce false alarms.
- IR3 detectors are capable of distinguishing flame and fire from the high background heat of industrial environments.
- IR3 detectors detect fires from a distance of 60m.
- IR3 detectors have a relatively higher immunity to infrared radiation produced by arc welding, lightning and sunlight.
- Suitable for detecting liquid hydrocarbons and dirty fires.
- Steam and oil contaminants reduce the sensitivity and performance of the device.
- Processes a wider spectral range with greater accuracy than UV and UV/IR detectors, which results in longer response times.
- Limits installation to direct sunlight.
